| Let's say
you hired a car designer to build the most awesome, exotic
car imaginable--better looking than a Porsche, a Benz, a
Ferrari or a 300; faster than a Lamborghini. But, after it
was built, you kept it in your garage and never ever drove
it. As time goes on, you proudly ask your friends and
others: "Have you seen my car yet?" They reply: What car? If
you put an advertisement in a print publication and don't
mention your website, don't wonder why you're not coming up
high in Google or Yahoo. Put it on your flyers, put it on
your advertisements, blast out an email, put it on your
invitations, put it on your business cards, put it on your
MySpace, Facebook. Have other sites link to you, plaster it
on your promotional vehicle, mention it on your answering
machine, have it on your email signature. In fact, just
doing one or two of these things should give you a leg up.
Wait a month and then search for your site in Google. A
designer can make sure you're in the directory but you gotta
take that car out of the garage and drive it. At least on
